Houzz Tour: An octagonal Ecofriendly Home in West Wales - Overlooking the beautiful Aeron Valley in west Wales, this pint-sized mat lies on an organic farm. It was built to be environmentally friendly and built by a local craftsman using materials from the region, including sheep's wool insulation and Douglas fir cladding for the exterior.
With a footprint of just 43 square meters, the house is compact and designed around an unusual octagonal footprint. "The challenge was to make good use of available space, said Hannah Cockburn, cream and black Interior Design, who created the interior. "We had to make the unusual shape working virtually, but also an aesthetic way. The size and open layout mean everything is on view all the time, so we need to look pretty!

views of the small house of the countryside are beautiful, so Hannah Cockburn designed the interior to complement the natural beauty. "We wanted to create a relaxed calm space that takes nothing away from amazing landscape outside," she said. "The idea was to keep the look simple and not too contemporary, very calm, warm colors.
Local craftsman Steve Gates has used pine trees to build the impressive wooden structure that holds the roof and walls of the house. These add the definition inside. The kitchen cabinets were made to fit the space. "We then used oak floor that may be 400 years to the end panels, said Cockburn.
