Houzz Tour: A modern house with spectacular views Hillside - Perched on the hills of Wellington surrounded by native bush New Zealand Korokoro House is a beautiful house with stunning facades and great views of all angle. Designed by architect Liz Wallace Tse: Wallace Architects, the project was completed early this year and was custom built for a couple of Sri Lanka who were eager to bring the style of their favorite architect, Geoffrey Bawa, New Zealand.
Wallace conducted an Bawa design influence with a modern edge, creating a home with large living spaces, open-plan and multiple outdoor spaces depending on the lifestyle of the family and their heritage, and completing also the natural landscape that surrounds it.

'Asantha is the main leader of the house and is very passionate about cooking, so was quite specific about the layout of the kitchen, said Wallace. The U-shaped design provides Asantha space with a clear view of children as they play in the living room, but allows the two rooms are separated. It was an important part of the architecture folder.

While some of their items are hidden away, the couple have also made sure that their home is used to display their prized possessions. The open cabinet bamboo seen here is where Asantha Minon and keep their best dishes, glassware and ornaments.
"In general with the houses I work, everything is hidden behind doors, it was refreshing to have customers who wanted to get things out in the open," Wallace said. "It adds another layer of decor in the room and is part of their heritage."

on the other side of the dining room, next to the staircase is the top of the double-height structure. Here it becomes a railing and display cabinet where the couple can show their collections. Windows were set up on the back wall to let in more light, allowing the polished glass shelves and their precious cargo to shine.

the main bathroom is right next to the hallway gallery and presents a view of the gorge, which is also amazing that those observed in the rest of the house. the hot egg-shaped wall and WC add a contemporary sophistication to the room, while an expansive window invites the beauty of the natural environment in the otherwise plain space.
