Houzz Tour: A Parisian apartment is enhanced with a new American design - What was once a classic three bedroom apartment bedroom occupying the top two floors of a building of 1980s Paris apartment was transformed into an open living plan. He now has a series of movable walls that allow it to be transformed into an open space or divided into a series of intimate spaces.

In the reconfiguration of space, the architect Glenn Medioni created an escape from the busy city life for the owner and a preview for the visitor in the imagination of his client.

the owner enjoys traveling and is a fan of photography and music. He wanted to transform its traditional home in an unconventional living space that reflects their personality.

To do this, the architect Glenn Medioni spilled all non-bearing walls in the property to create a bright open and airy space. This space can be divided by a system of doors that disappear again in the new sliding partitions. The space of public life and private rest area are separated by a "black box" that looks like a decompression chamber.

As the owner often works at home, comfortable and spacious office space was created to forget the terrace. This working area is defined by a false ceiling, the lower illumination task and a carpeted area.

the media room is designed for watching movies and listening to music. It has sound insulation and the walls are covered with custom MDF which have acoustic qualities. They are painted white, with black panels to display digital photos. support equipment is stored in the cabinets bank through which infrared rays can pass, which means that remotes can be used without opening the doors

Adjoining the media room is a softer living space to relax. This area can be closed by a sliding door.

Medioni has created custom library lockers organic form in the office area. "It was to do something personal and creative linking the interior to the exterior," says Medioni. "And, of course, to display books and objects of my client."

Like panels in the media room, the library is made of MDF painted white. The impressive unit was designed by Medioni and built by cabinetmakers.

Striking lines black were added to the units and the walls of the large kitchen and dining room to create a sense of fluidity and movement. The cabinets and island were ergonomically designed and manufactured the hood and lights. Particular attention was paid to the requirements of the owner, such as induction hob having a concave plate for cooking with a wok.

plan work on the island is made of black granite with a flamed finish and was designed with a corner down. "This was to ensure the rock mass has a lightweight feel. He breaks the horizontal lines and gives the material an element of flexibility, "says Medioni.

The different forms of the ceiling blocks have been inspired by icebergs, and define the different areas of the kitchen.

In dining room, meals are eaten at a table made from polished concrete - a polished concrete surface. Above on the wall is a magnetic card where the owner can display photographs and objects.

Zone most private of the apartment is accessed through a "black box" symbolic. This art installation is a reference to the black boxes found on airplanes, and functions as a transition space.
