Houzz Tour: A local Mexican Made luxury Hacienda San Miguel - It takes a village to build a house like this: the construction of this hacienda outside San Miguel de Allende Mexico kept many craftsmen employed for three years. Craftsmen built the house brick by brick and electricity for the first two years. "When we started this project, all workers used to walk on the site," says architect David Howell. "Then, after a while, they had to push the bikes. About a year after they had bikes, and at the end of the project, they had all the pickup trucks. It is a wonderful feeling to have a positive impact on the local community economy. "

The house was a collaboration between Howell and the owner, furniture designer John Houshmand. "We designed the house in a classic hacienda style with a real court fully closed from the outside," says Howell. "It is a monastic, simple no frills aesthetic." Local materials are distinguished, and a view of the surrounding mountains of central Mexico were carefully examined.
