Houzz Tour: A Sun-bathed apartment Bijou California - This small apartment is bathed in sunlight the sky photographer Annie McElwain. Nestled close to the canals of Venice, California, the rented house is the first place McElwain where she lives alone. "Me first attracted the bright space, but I think I finally fell in love with was that it was to me, she said.
The apartment can be a temporary refuge, but McElwain enjoyed decorating. intelligent storage solutions, a lot of wall art and beautiful vignettes add personality to the space without the need for structural changes.

McElwain has moved into her apartment after a long relationship had ended - no furniture except for a bed "I enjoyed the process of creating my own space and I do not have to please anyone but myself, she said. "I strongly recommend every woman has her own apartment at one time.

McElwain liked the idea of using milk crates as storage - something she had seen in a shop. She found the crates during a visit to the flea market in Ventura, and her boyfriend them reinforced with reclaimed wood and installed them on the wall. vintage-inspired accessories complete the look.

Since this was his first time decorating their own space, McElwain soon that it is not easy to make a beautiful and functional space. Although she found online for inspiration, it was difficult to find a look that felt habitable. "To my little apartment everything has its place, or the house feels cluttered, she said.

Since apartment is leased space, the kitchen was already in place, and McElwain could make minimal changes. Fortunately, clean and open design makes quite easy to decorate. A wooden bar and work plan paired with two chairs creates a relaxed dining room for simple meals.
