Houzz Tour: A contemporary and colorful style of Spanish Ranch Home Shaw - Coates and her husband, John, liked to live in their home in San Diego. Shaw, in particular, liked small spaces, having lived in apartments in Paris. But when the couple - she is a marketing director; it is a hardware engineer for Qualcomm -unexpectedly learned that Shaw was pregnant, they went into overdrive to find a more habitable space to raise their family. The idea of a nursery on the ground level and their main room all the way up was far from ideal.

Rancho Santa Fe, a suburb north of San Diego with a mood country, near the town and the beach, a culture of horse and incredible schools seemed the best fit. But the traditional style of the houses concerned Shaw, who was hoping for something more modern. A house late 1970s and clean lines quickly caught his attention, though, offering the opportunity to bring a bit of flair to midcentury vintage classic design. John was less enthusiastic. The Spanish style ranch house has not been lived for two and a half years; there were leaks and falling apart. A huge overhaul was in order.

Shaw defended the high ceilings, open floor plan and a unique view of the valley as a good base full potential, eventually winning over John. Greenline Construction, more designers landscape Kendra Berger of Revive Landscape Design and Steven Letz Letz design intervened to achieve the vision.
