Houzz Tour: A traditional Scottish house Gets a Makeover Scandi inspiration - If you want to know how to turn a dark house and dated light and airy retreat Scandi, look no further than this terrace house makeover in Aberdeen. With white walls, stripped-back floor and a sober palette of colors, this open house and without fuss has a timeless atmosphere that bears no trace of the neglected property and dark it once was. "He was in a bad way, in 1970 with carpet and dark wood," reveals Andrew Brown of Brown + Brown Architects. Fortunately, the owners, Emily and Andrew Curthoys, a professional couple relocation Copenhagen could see the potential, so they asked the Brown + Brown architecture team to help them realize their dream of a modern home and filled character. , the dining room, which is used for cooking has a beautiful flagstone floor of origin. "He was in four or five layers of linoleum, said Andrew. "It took a lot of work to strip it back." The newly exposed stones were treated with an industrial sealer.

the focal point of the dining room is definitely the solid wood table, which brought with them the couple from Denmark. "It was important that the new house could match this table, said Andrew, he assumes is made of pickled oak. The the stairs were also completely sanded. "It took a few weeks, Andrew said," because we had to remove decades and decades of varnish. They were then treated with the same oil as the Danish boards. The metal baluster was also cleaned to bring out its beauty.

upstairs, the master bedroom is crisp and simple. Andrew explains that all the furniture in this room is ancient, and was either sent to the couple by relatives or picked up from various antique shops during their travels.
