Houzz Tour: At Home With ... Charlotte Duckworth life by Lotte - Sometimes when buying a new home, you just need a little luck your side. That's exactly what happened to the inner journalist, blogger and writer Charlotte Duckworth, who was on this property, now his home, while watching a small flat just around the corner. The agent got the price wrong, saying it was for the same amount as the small apartment she consults, so Charlotte went to take a look and knew immediately it was for her. When it appeared that he was actually more expensive, she managed to raise extra money and bought the duplex two bedroom Wimbledon.
That was four years ago, and it's just as well, she bought a two-bedroom property that Charlotte now expects a girl to join her, her husband and their cat in colorful and elegant house, she spent time, energy and money to make his own. Try to see what she did with the place.
COMMENTARY FOR A CHANCE TO WIN
To celebrate some of the most creative bloggers and inspiring the UK and their homes, we will ask each blogger this series choose a gift price that reflects their personal style - Charlotte chose a color print of the sphere Runge of a Rum Fellow. What should we know about your blog?
as interior journalist, I write about domestic much so I did not want it to be the only goal of the blog. I write about many different things, since I'm pregnant, I write a lot about it. I want people to think that my blog is very honest and down to earth. I love reading blogs glamorous, but mine wanted to be a little more realistic. I want to be able to laugh at life and how dramatic it may be, so this was a good outlet for me and a way to be a little more personal with my writing.

what you start blogging?
I've had a lot of blogs. I started it years ago when I graduated, and have blogged since. I started because I love writing, and I'm a bit of a digital nerd, so it was a nice way to combine the two. I really like the online world and how it all developed, and enjoy the design of models and play with the layout. I've never really focused on building myself as a brand, but it was a pleasant side effect.
How did you choose the name?
Because I do not want him roughly interiors little "life" was quite obvious: it means that I can talk about anything there without him feel weird . I write my novels under another name - Lotte Worth - to separate my journalism and life of Lotte sounded much better than Charlotte's life

how long have you lived here and how you and your meeting is flat?
I moved in four and a bit years ago. I was looking for an apartment at the time and had just lost another. I really wanted to be more like a tube, and it was the one area that I could afford. The real estate agent was showing me a one bedroom apartment, and said that two beds around the corner had just come on the market at the same price. I went to have a look and it was amazing, I could not believe it was the same price ... and of course it was not. This was his first week on the job, and he got the wrong price, but I managed to meet the extra to buy the apartment. I kind of think that fate, I probably would not even look if it has not made the mistake.

What is your proudest DIY?
I'd probably say he was painting the floor in the living room. I had to pull all the carpet and underlay and cut everything and drive to the tip. Then I had to paint on layers of expense in the downpipe from Farrow & Ball. I was there until midnight every night - it was pretty grueling

What is your favorite place in the apartment, and why?
Probably the lounge. It is so large (15ft wide) and very light, so it's good to feel that sense of space in a London apartment. It feels very quiet there and I find the happiest part because of the colors.
What makes you most happy at home?
I'm probably the happiest on the couch watching movies, I am quite a homebody, so I just want cold there with my other half. My favorite piece of furniture would be my sofa because it is so pink and huge and comfortable, or the small office next to the desk on the left, that was my grandparents in the 1950s, it has more emotional value.

What was the place like when you first moved in?
It was nice, but it was really dated and the carpet was really old. He was just a little tired, not fall or anything. I had a week between the purchase and movement, so spent the whole time here. I ripped all the carpets and painted all the floors and walls. I painted all white for her was the largest air and, over the years, I gradually changed some bits. My most recent change was laying carpet. I like the floor, but they had holes and nails in them and were a bit draughty, and with the baby coming, I thought it was time for something softer. I guess I grew up the apartment a little more mature, too.

have you pet hate?
Interiors-wise, I'm not a fan of twee things. I really do not like bunting, cupcakes and cupcake stands and just like that! I also really do not like open shelves, which is probably my most controversial pet hate. I'm a bit of a phenomenon of dust, so prefers to keep things in the cupboards.

What is your next big decorating project?
I would like to cook at one time. It was like that when we moved, and there is nothing wrong with that - they are just not quite the units I would choose. The nursery is the next project, although [the second bedroom]. It is difficult because it is an awkward shape, it is difficult to put furniture in there. We're just trying to work out how to do it. I would have a lot of art and make it quite girlie we are expecting a girl.

what is the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?
I will shamefully admit that I look at my email and Twitter before even getting out of bed!
What is your key to a healthy and happy life?
Having good friends is really important to me, and treat people. I try to be balanced and take life one day at a time, staying focused on the moment instead of worrying about the future or emphasizing the past.

do you have a design rule you live by?
I really do not like trends. I think you have to love the things you buy and not to be influenced by what is fashionable.
Did you could not live without?
Life would be very uncomfortable without a cup of tea.
