"with the budget that I had, I could have bought something a little bigger ," says Jessica, " but I wanted to decorate really well, and to make it truly luxurious and comfortable. I think a lot of people buy the biggest place where they can, but I wanted to be sure there was enough money in the pot to make the dish I wanted.
'It was also to be a centerpiece for my business - I was a young interior designer and wanted something that would show people what I could do. I had to practice what I preach and go for it with bold colors and pattern '.

Design of inside often begins with a piece that defines the theme color scheme or for an entire house. For Jessica, there were two starting points. First, a crash on Canvas Zebra Neisha Crosland, who now covers the sofa. "I saw him on a carpeted showroom chair when I was still a student, she said, and thought," One day, I will use this incredible fabric on something! "
Second, she was watching a blue grasscloth wallpaper deep Phillip Jeffries for a while and decided she had to have for the show. So with sofa and wallcovering sorted, the rest of the apartment has evolved around them.
This comprehensive turquoise side table dark blue beautifully. "I had some vases around the house already, but had not thought of put them together until I find table online for £ 20, 'she said. "I love this color! the others, she has taken over time in junk shops.

Pink is another color key in the living room, and Jessica had the dining room chairs reupholstered in old pink fabric. "chinoiserie Chinese Chippendale chairs or were popular in the 17th century, she said. "They came in fashionable Palm Beach, Florida, and in the 1950s and had a bit of a resurgence again. I found a set of six online and had them painted white -. The other two are in the kitchen

the picture above the fireplace is a framed box Aztec Suzani, a textile made in Uzbekistan. "I used to live in Central Asia, Jessica says, 'and it was a gift when I was there."
Although there are many things in this piece visually, Jessica nailed the fine art of clicking ground by sticking to a color palette dotted around the room in different configurations.
The only structural work was needed here involved the seat window. "When I first arrived in the window seat was already there, but just too high," says Jessica. "All the windows have original shutters, meaning that there was no room for a window seat cushion. So - it may seem ridiculous - I had removed and rebuilt down so there was space for a cushion, and for the shutters to open and close 'It incorporates storage under them, too .. "They stash all sorts of bits and pieces of household.

The apartment is arranged around a central corridor, where you will have a colorful view of a floor. I do not worry too much about a "color flow" in the apartment, "Jessica said. 'I think people can get a little hooked on things having to move from room to room is something to consider, but I do not allow it to be a decision factor -.. ultimately, if you want a red hallway you should have a

'W hen I told people I was going to have a pink kitchen, they looked at me like I had lost my mind, "Jessica laughed." But I think it is so pretty, and the black and white accentuates all - I do not want it to be blowsy.
She and her designer mixed the paint color. "We Slopped some paint between boxes, an unorthodox, but the result is very close to Middleton Pink Farrow & Ball, which is in the bathroom, she said.

It is quite expensive, but this piece was a rest, I took on a trip to London. At the time, I did not know what I would do with it. Room Jessica has a striking feature wall and is another example of the ingenuity of the designer. "I was lusting after a chinoiserie silk wallpaper hand-painted by a company called Gournay," she explains. "But it's arm-and-leg expensive, so instead I found a mural artist and asked him to create a similar scene for me in painting.
Jessica also got creative with the bed, which she bought in Sofas & Stuff, but personalized with pink and white ticking. She had high, too: "I like the princess and the feeling of pea literally climb into bed, she said.

the bedside table is one of "D-end" of an antique dining table extensible. "This ancient style - what people refer to, rather disparagingly, as" brown furniture "- has become quite old fashioned, but I like beautiful pieces in antique wood. I feel horrible for having massacred the table, however; I cut the middle bit to create the bedside table.

Jessica chose to keep neutral window dressings throughout the apartment. "You have to let the rest of the eyes with all the color, she said. The curtains look wonderfully sumptuous. "Yes, they are made of ivory silk with loads of interlining, so they are really luxurious - a bit like window Wedding dresses, she said. The recliner belonged to his parents.

The double shower curtains are quite the feature in the pink room of Jessica. "They are covered with a plastic curtain and the fabric itself is lined with pink ticking, so they are quite luxurious, heavy curtains. They really embellish, dress and soften the room and make it look much less room for it.
Jessica had two mirror panels and decided to use them on the side of the tub. "It opens up the space visually, giving the impression that the floor goes under the tub. Ideally I would have liked a big sign, but I made use of what I had.

room was originally the kitchen, and vice versa, before Jessica renovated. She lived consciously in the apartment for a year before taking important decisions to get used to space.
I was going to get the kitchen done first, "she reveals," but it slowly became apparent the rooms were in the wrong direction - the room was flooded with light, and Edinburgh you really want to get the most of the sun when you get it. It seemed a waste to have all that sunlight in a room used only occasionally.
The ikat pillows on the bed are made from fabric Jessica picked up in Uzbekistan, and it now sells similar models in its own shop. She bought the carpet in Morocco. The box frames on each side of the bed hold tribal ceremonial food bowls, she picked up in Papua New Guinea.

Jessica wanted a fairytale feel in this room. "I want my customers to feel as if they were in a luxurious space, so I went for an old sumptuous effect fashioned entirely." She set a four-poster bed to the wall above the headboard sumptuous fabric draped him.
