Because the family had been living in the main house, Clare was a lot of existing furniture to work with and wanted to design the space to reflect the personality of the couple and their love of travel and the arts. "I enjoyed using their products - it gave me a starting block," Clare said.

The designer and architect gave the back of the house a different feel to the front. "We wanted light and contemporary, Clare said," particularly to bring daylight into the basement. They went to a large glass wall covering floors lower and upper floor, and the creation of the spacious feel the couple had desired.
