Houzz Tour: A spacious, bright and luxurious designer in Melbourne - Interior Diane Bergeron had some convincing to do with this project - a home weekend for a large family who use house all year. Project architect proposed a start of a cozy seaside cottage: a smooth interior with glass staircase and contemporary furnishings. "But I told him:" Traditional bones are already there. Why destroy them? '' She says. "It made sense to work with the architectural bones of the house and from there."

Bergeron applied his knowledge of the design of traditional American coastal homes throughout the project. "They liked the pictures of summer homes in the Hamptons and the warmth and airy coastal houses in California, she said. "We have opted for a soft base, neutral and layered on patterns and colors."

Customers have turned away from what many people in these regions are doing, "Many ultra-modern houses with a glass architecture -box which certainly brought in interior and furniture" , Bergeron said. And did they like the end result? "My customers are used to a pleasant, says the designer, 'and they already have a large townhouse. But there were tears in the big show. They are just in love with this house.
