Houzz Tour: An arts and crafts Home Makeovers reveals multiple Period - You would not believe now, but the owners of this house first bought the house an old, dilapidated with poor extension 1970 and a bathroom. There was method to the madness, however, that the house had superb period details and finishes and was located in an attractive street. In order to turn this multi-home extension something functional, attractive and perfect for entertaining guests, the owners called on the expertise of Brett Brett Mickan Mickan Interior Design.

The house itself has an interesting history, having survived several renovations that were heavily influenced by the trends of the day. The house was originally built during the Arts and Crafts movement (1880-1910), was later expanded during the days of Art Deco (1920s-1930s) and then had a final addition in years 1970. Now that's a lot of period makeover! Unfortunately, the last renovation was not at all favorable to the architecture of the house. Previous renovators had taken the concept that "old house" meant "old appliances" and filled the house with faux-Victorian structures that have worked against the traditional simplicity of the Arts and Crafts style of the house, making the dark claustrophobic.
