My Houzz: Warm wood finishes and Sleek with a host American - Sometimes a dream home starts with a blank page. But Michael and Susan Drover, their white page just led them to find a nearby house they turn into a modern open space. The couple abandoned their plans of new buildings, sold a piece of land they had purchased and refocused their attention on renovating a 190s interior to meet the needs of active family of five.
The house is on a large, landscaped grounds in the center of Newfoundland and Labrador. While in a traditional style, there was a lot of potential. As an interior designer, Susan looked behind walls, cabinets, floors and ledges and imagined space just the way she wanted it for his family. The couple love the open spaces, clean lines and lots of natural light, so that the walls were the first thing that came down.

Trying to remove the walls, they need to be strategic with the walls they left in place. They ended up hiding pipes in the walls of the basement.
