Houzz Tour: A calming retreat in the heart of Chicago - This urban haven of relaxation designed for a suburban family whose main residence is just north of Chicago. The husband had a demanding job in the city, so the family decided to get an apartment here so they can enjoy and learn more about Chicago.
Located just off a main road in the city, this apartment is in a multifunctional building where the office spaces have been converted into private residences. Interior designer Jessica Lagrange worked with the family to make this space with three bedrooms feel like home with soothing neutrals, luxurious textiles, and minimal clean décor.

The entire house has a very modern and minimal style, similar to the main residence of the customer. The decor has been kept to a minimum - the chandelier in the dining room is one of the few pieces of decorative lighting in the house.

The lounge Lagrange's favorite space in the house. "There is very little color used, but the mixing and matching textures and finishes really came together, she said. stainless steel, glass, lacquer, and a contrast of sharp edges and curved shapes create a visually interesting space, even without much color.

a simple wall shelf acts as a functional and decorative feature - almost like a chimney. Although his clients wanted a contemporary look, Lagrange wanted to ensure that the house was classic and stands the test of time - without having to make things too mid-century modern

other residents of the building were full of recommendations for inside the apartment, and Lagrange used many of their ideas, such as worktops and polished granite cabinets in the kitchen. Customers loved the look of stainless steel and chrome, so Lagrange installed a stainless steel backsplash.

the size of the island was especially important, since the family love to be entertained. Lagrange incorporated a small corner to extend the play area of the kitchen. It is the perfect place for a casual meal or relax with friends.
The breakfast nook is a perfect example of clean, contemporary customers. luxurious neutral fabrics cover the seats and dining chairs customized, and minimal recessed lighting was used above the table instead of a chandelier or pendant light. "Customers have seen many decorative lighting that clutter, so we only used a few pieces throughout the house, said Lagrange.

Since it is a second home, almost all furniture and decoration is new. The client's love for neutral colors and clean lines led Lagrange to shop at stores like Holly Hunt, B & B Italia, LUMINERE, Christian Liagre, and several other Italian designers.
