Houzz Tour: An Open and Modern Country Home California

Houzz Tour: An Open and Modern Country Home California - Most renovation stories starts with a bleak assessment of the house before the renovation. In this case, there was no ceiling leaking, dark rooms or confined spaces to describe. When Jim and Stephanie Stafford bought this house in Sonoma, California, he was practically new and has served as a spec house in a newly developed area. The Staffords liked the location and size of the house - they were looking for something large enough to accommodate large family gatherings and friends of their children - but less attractive were the look and feel of the house. "It was built somehow the style of an old Mediterranean house, but he did not have the soul of an old Mediterranean house, said Ken Linsteadt, their architect. "There were also some details to standards and was not conducive to indoor and outdoor living. We decided to recast it as a modern country house.

Houzz Tour: A Lofty London Gets a Home Properly fresh

Houzz Tour: A Lofty London Gets a Home Properly fresh - transformation In the last decade, Dalston, London has experienced serious changes. When the current owners bought the house 10 years ago, the area was already considered cool, but nobody could predict the number of trendy bars, restaurants and residents of the hip that now populate the area. But while the streets around the factory of the 19th century converted change from day to day, very little was going on behind the door.

'The house had been converted into a residential building in the 190s and the owners had literally nothing to this fact since the day they moved in,' says designer Michelle Chaplin. "They are both very busy, they not have the time to think about houses." In fact, it was this frenetic lifestyle that dictated the memory owners: to create a beautiful, peaceful place where they could enjoy downtime. Obviously not want to do things by half, the couple moved, got rid of all their existing furniture and gave Michelle 12 weeks to transform the place into "something with the wow factor."

Michelle relished the opportunity to completely rethink the space, replacing stairs and exposed structural beams while getting the details right. "I choose everything, even in cloths and cutlery, she said, recalling the experience of working with dream clients. "It was great, because they have really bought into my style and gave me carte blanche.

After leaving her, the owners had the excitement of the "great revelation" once the project was completed. "Fortunately, they really were seduced. We ended up having a party here until 4 am.

Houzz Tour: A Century French Castle 15 - With Contemporary Interior After a few intense years of urban life, Anne-Marie and Thierry decided to move in the Perigord region of France. They bought a 15th century castle, which was rebuilt in the 17th and 19th centuries, and wanted to give it a new lease of life. Alain Dupe, director of A3Design, took on the project, which involved a total renovation of three floors inside (1614 square feet each) and work on the joists of the building.
