Houzz Tour: An off-network Treetop Hideaway for two in Scotland - After the success of the first autonomous network off Sam Booth designer building a small cottage on a beautiful plot of farmland, the same customers ordered a second structure 500 meters. "The joy of the first was that he was in the middle of a field, had large windows and was all about the views," Sam said. "We wanted it to be a reversal of that. A design intrauterine evolved carefully introverted to focus the mind on the immediate environment and make it a real retreat from the treetops from the stresses of everyday life. Sustainability, autonomy and originality characterize the philosophy of design.

The right has a nacelle open space for sleeping, eating and cooking. On the left is the bathroom. The smallest structure holds all the power equipment, such as a toilet generator (sophisticated) composting and batteries that are charged via solar panels on the roof. Galvanized steel steps lead to a small platform with a front door. A small hallway allows you to either go right into the living area or left in the bathroom.
Sam chose to have three pods instead of more as related to the notion of it being a tree. Convenience also played a role, as all structures were made in the workshop Echo Living and transported to the site via the tractors and smaller cloves were easier to maneuver.
The house is completely off-grid. Everything is managed out of the sun via two 250 W photovoltaic solar panels and battery storage, so it is both energy efficient and self-sufficient. With hot water and solar electricity, "it is difficult to say it is not connected to the network. The only things we avoided were a TV and Wi-Fi; it is supposed to be a kind of digital detox, "Sam said.

in the largest pod is the kitchen, dining room and sleeping area. Storage in the kitchen area includes a closet (the other is a refrigerator), two drawers under the sink and an insert tray above the cooktop. "When you have a small space, rather than hiding right away, it's nice to have a shelf with things on it, so they become part of the decoration," Sam said.

This is the view from the small corridor in the largest pod. It is a very small kitchen, but has all the necessities, with a hob, a small refrigerator and a Belfast sink nestled in the autonomous unit. paint colors to pastel and Laura Ashley Farrow & Ball give gay yet understated advantage.

the interior walls are cross-laminated timber, which is similar to a squat plywood, but with greater thermal mass (it can contain heat and slowly release). Sam chose to paint small areas to mark and separate spaces subtly area. A table and chairs found in a junk shop were partially painted the same color to tie the space.

At the other end of the platform is the sleeping area. What makes this special area is the full width, fixed skylight above the bed 'This is a designated area of dark sky, Sam said, and there are the most amazing stars at night. When lying in bed, you can look through the canopy of trees and beyond to the night sky. "It's like sleeping under the stars, just a little more sheltered," Sam said.

instead of windows, Sam opted for a more unusual effect with these tiny little openings that frame views and let in light pockets. "The idea was to recreate the dappled light you get through the leaves, Sam said.

the bathroom in the smaller pod is about the color scheme of bare wood with pastel touches. To make the wood waterproof, it was covered with Formica laminate in a gray-green color called Seed.

as it was designed as the retirement of a couple, a small intimate function of the bathroom is that you walk in, there seems to be no door and only a sink and tub present. The wall on the left side of the pelvis actually pivots to expose a toilet. The idea is that when a person is having a bath, they can leave the door open to feel connected to the person in the other boat, but if privacy is still needed, then the wall can simply be swiveled to close the bathroom.

a bucket of stones acts as a lever in the window on the left. It binds with the rather childish vision of building as Sam and his client had. "We could have used a pivotal high-tech," he admits, "but it seemed to be a much easier and more fun to do.

The pods resemble clouds as trees at the top of their trunks. While they may be abstracted too far to blend into the forest, the similarities are certainly recognizable, creativity and originality are unmistakable. "We wanted something that would attract attention," Sam said. "It is a totally different experience to stay here."
