Houzz Tour: A Scottish converted lighthouse on the shores of Loch Ness - On the northern edge of Loch Ness, by the banks of the Caledonian Canal, is wee Bona Lighthouse. It is one of only two inland lighthouses in Scotland and was built in 1815 by the famous engineer Thomas Telford. This modest building expedition guided through the narrow lake that leads to Loch Dochfour, with light provided by a lantern on the top floor of the octagonal building.

After more than 0 years, electric lights have replaced the lantern, but since 00, the building was empty and had fallen into disuse. Scottish Canals, the body that owns the lighthouse has been renovated many of its historic properties and, in September 2014, Bona Lighthouse reborn as a stylish holiday accommodation after a total renovation. It is now divided into two sections. The original lighthouse building is a getaway with two bedrooms, while the stables and store converted materials that borders a small space with a double.

Interior designer Emma Clanfield joined the project in early 2014. "I worked with architects, LDN Architects to design the integrated elements," she said, and made modifications to the rooms bathrooms and kitchens to make them more exciting. "Emma has worked on several properties owned Scottish Canals and was given total control over the concept of these two holiday homes. "I start looking at the building, its history, location and importance," says Emma. "I can add my style, which is modern and comfortable. As I originally trained as a textile designer, I also work in many fabrics and textures, too.
