Houzz Tour: A London Victorian Terrace Gets a Makeover Urban Chic - When interior designer Chantel Elshout bought a dilapidated Victorian terrace in London, she wisely decided to live there for 18 months before start a complete overhaul. This means that when she was ready to start the renovation work, she was familiar with the area and knew exactly how she wanted to use it. It also meant that when the builders started work, there was no robbery, as Chantel had worked exactly where all the electric and the accessories needed to go. Therefore, his advice to anyone considering a similar project is to "make as much preparedness as possible."

Despite contemporary decor style Chantel, she wanted to preserve many original features of the property, and reinstall some of the missing, such as wooden sash windows and traditional style radiators . The result is an elegant sympathetic renovation that combines contemporary style and original character beautifully.
