My Houzz: Eclectic host family in the Australian campaign - After living in a terraced house cramped in Sydney, Rob and Beth Macdonald charmed by the high ceilings and wood floors franc in an expansive villa Southern Highlands of New South Wales. With their two girls growing quickly, the couple - he is a writer, editor and producer; she is a blogger - felt a change was in order. They knew that this traditional style house set in landscaped half acre would be the perfect place.

the house was designed with the traditional charm and all the amenities of a modern family home. To end a provision of smart furniture divide a large cathedral living room into three functional areas: a dining room, a children's playground and one adult space. Light fills the room from all angles.

The doors and windows are salvaged from an old farmhouse. This door, in particular, is a standout feature of the main salon, with its classic and authentic look.

L optimism, color and light fill each space. The table shown here was made by a friend as a housewarming gift; it represents the family move from the city to the countryside.

Beth fresh flowers and love always has a few stems of garden or a local florist on the display. These pink dahlias are a specialty of the region and is one of his favorites. Beth made the basket with local weaver Brooke Munro for an Easter feature on his blog.

t opposite end of the room is used as a playground for children, although the couple plan to adapt the space that their daughters grow up. The work of art bus-scroll is a custom piece representing all the places where the couple lived previously. Their current property Pemberley was dubbed by its original owner -. A reference to the country estate belonging to Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice

Beth describes the style of the couple as a combination of vintage and eclectic, with an industrial edge, although it admits a country suspected slipped into the mix. This show is true to this approach, with industrial style coffee table comfortably blending with a pair of antique chairs found at a garage sale. the kitchen opens to the main living area and a color tag is filled to the brim with children's drawings. A bargain hunter self-professed, Beth bought the cabinet step back from a local antique dealer. Above is a vintage sign that Beth picked up from a favorite shopping Dirty Janes.

Rob's guitar rests against an ottoman nestled in one of the bedroom windows. The mirror above the fireplace was a purchase of 10 garage sale £ from a neighbor, and was once part of a dresser.
The rustic yellow chest was originally used as a travel trunk with Beth's father when he was 17, traveling by boat to Rome with the intention of becoming a priest. Several years later, Beth's mother painted the trunk and used as a toy box, before he finally made his way home to Beth.

In traditional style, corrugated metal topped verandas running all the way around the house and provide a selection of great spots where the family can sit and have a drink - rain, hail or shine. An escalation of pink clematis winds on the veranda, promising a full flourishing bloom every October.
