Houzz Tour: A Waterfront Lake House with a tiny Big View - This structure beside the elegant lake in the Cotswolds at first seems to have little in common with the traditional stone barn just behind . However, contemporary space has the same basic structure, the materials and specifications as the barn and main house.
A waterfront extension of the historic house, it has evolved as a space for alternative life due to planning constraints on the beautiful property. Architect Andy Ramus built the small space on the water to enjoy the view.

the lake house came to life because of a planning constraint in the Lower Mill Estate community. The client wanted a living room with a large window overlooking the lake in the main house, but the rules of succession planning committee did not allow large panes of glass in the walls of the historic barn and main house. As a compromise, Ramus designed this "salon" separated with view over the lake.

the contrast between the historic main house and the new lakehouse is particularly striking in this aerial view.
