Houzz Tour: A Soothing Sanctuary Located in the trees of Australia - Landscape Moonah can live hundreds of years. Their name alone gives a sense of the mystical and ancient ties of the coastal region Barwon Heads Australia were local legends. As the tree ages, the bark becomes increasingly gnarled and twisted because of the environment and the surrounding conditions. As Monterey cypress trees, baobabs of Madagascar and the giant sequoias of California, these are regional icons; part of the landscape.
When Auhaus architectural firm was hired to build a house in Barwon Heads last year, they have embraced the local natives: framing views of them, imitating their shape and connection with the landscape of the Moonah tree revered. "The house was designed in collaboration with the landscape, and the two sides are inseparable," explains architect Kate Fitzpatrick project. We wanted the house to be seen as an extension of the site. '

"The slope meant an accumulation of three floors was necessary to obtain a view of the golf course, said Fitzpatrick. Only the top floor really capture the surrounding views. Part of the first floor is carved into the hillside, so much of the challenge of the architects was to avoid a window cave house.
architects also did not want the house to impose too heavily on the landscape and the surrounding neighborhood. Breaking the building in various forms allowed us a lot of internal living space without creating visual bulk of the street - treatment of construction form almost like a landscape in itself, "said Fitzpatrick.

The family loves cook and entertain friends, so the kitchen is spacious and central. She used the same wood inside and outside and stuck with black and white for other finishes of the house. concrete tiles personalized offer an unexpected graphic interest, and lighting has been carefully selected for the atmosphere.
