Houzz Tour: A House of Arts and Crafts Gets a Makeover sympathetic - Perched on the edge of the Cotswolds, this house is a tribute to the Arts and Crafts movement, and was originally designed by Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott. The house was in a state of transformation for a while when asked Gabriel Holland to fight against the inside by the current owners.

"The previous owners had undertaken an ambitious restoration project, but unfortunately there was no money," recalls Gabriel. "I worked with the new owners on a number of their previous homes - they like a project! - If I've got a handle on their style, but the rich heritage of this Grade II listed property is all the more fascinating, "Determined to restore the historic house to its former glory -. with the addition of some comfort - new owners commissioned an architect to complete the restoration of the structure before inviting Gabriel to work its magic inside.

The couple, who have a penchant for bright colors, contemporary wanted a regime that respects the details and history of the house, and would also welcome the relaxed family life. "They do not want to live in a museum of Arts and Crafts, said Gabriel. "The key was to update using traditional fabrics and prints in a contemporary context. Because I know that the owners so well, they trusted me completely, which is incredibly satisfying, especially on a project of this scale. "The finished house is a nice mix of classic and contemporary design elements that allows the natural beauty of Arts and Crafts architecture to shine.
