Houzz Tour: Old School Charm Meets Contemporary Coastal Cornwall - "When the first guests approached me the brief was to remodel and expand an existing home, they had bought near Bude, said Martin Back to The Bazeley partnership. But it soon became clear that the building was structurally unstable, so rather than making a working patch-up, we decided to drop it and start with a clean slate.
new Martin's memory was to create a contemporary house that suited the needs of a growing family while integrating the incredible natural landscape into the design. Merging the outside with the inside space was important for the family, so Martin has designed a house "upside down" with a panoramic balcony that would maximize the view of the family to the hinterland of Cornwall.
He was not just sailing, but after navigating his way through various constraints planning, Martin eventually settled on a spacious, bright, contemporary house with a nod to the traditional design Cornwall. "Juggling owners ambitions with local government planning restrictions has been a challenge, he says, but we got there in the end!
