Houzz Tour: a former dairy Suffolk Gets a Makeover contemporary - When it came to designing the interior of the dairy owners were inclined towards an elegant monochrome system, but the designer Lindsey Rendall inside, Rendall & Wright, was not so sure. "The first time I saw the building, I thought would be too harsh monochrome. I remember it was a summer evening and I felt soft gray and green would be much better. Regarding the choice of colors, I think that the environment of a building are important, and that's what inspired my choice. "
When Lindsey was asked to work her magic on the dairy 19th century, she knew that building history could play a major role in its redevelopment. She had worked with landlords on previous projects and knew they trusted his vision and judgment, but there were still obstacles to overcome: working with a listed building poses a number of challenges, and there was a three-month planning process to navigate before any work on the structure could begin.
The Lindsey memory was to bring together a team of highly qualified professionals to restore and expand the old dairy, creating a contemporary living space that was friendly to the origin of the building. Under the terms of the application of planning, building facade could be restored but not altered in any way, so that Lindsey hired local craftsmen with an understanding of local materials and techniques to carry out the delicate renovation.
The construction took nine months to complete and the result is a serene, bright, award-winning contemporary house with a friendly nod to the past.
