Houzz Tour: A Georgian Spacious Home in Dublin with modern call - Think of a Georgian townhouse and you probably imagine beautiful period features, generous windows and tons of traditional character. This elegant property in the center of Dublin certainly all these things. However, a large conservatory extension at the rear gives it a new dimension, adding more light and a touch of modern glamor, with its eclectic interior.
When we started, the house was an empty shell, "says CEO and lead designer Roisin Lafferty of architects and interior designers Kingston Lafferty design. "We wanted to avoid creating a standard period of ownership that could have built it a few years ago; it was really important to mix old and new.

The house is in a fantastic location in Ranelagh, one of the historical places of Georgian Dublin. "It's part of Dublin 6, which has a large balance of urban and residential components," explains the designer Roisin Lafferty. "The village center, with its lovely shops and cafes, is just a three minute walk.
However, the house was in a terrible state when Lafferty and his team have been drawn in a renovation from top to bottom - originally for her boyfriend's parents, whose second home it is -. and required a serious amount of TLC
"Before starting work, the house was in poor condition, full of moisture and mold, with dangerous accessories and plumbing and outdated," recalls Lafferty. "There was been a rental property for over 15 years and, when we started the work, had been uninhabited for a year. The building was in terrible condition, too, so the structural safety was a major concern.
Lafferty and began to set the record straight on his team. She described the project as a true labor of love. "Basically, the whole place needed to be emptied and rewired, replumbed, excavated, completely redesigned and refurbished. We made all construction drawings, electrical plans and all the interior design. It was a fantastic experience. "
