"It was wonderful to be able to do exactly what I wanted and experiment in ways I can not do in the houses of others, she said. the back of the house has been extended to create an open kitchen, dining and living space with a garden view. Grierson wanted this area of the house to be quite modern, but not ultra- contemporary, so she opted for a feeling of midcentury.

"I like playing with color, so I'd never go to a white kitchen," says Grierson. "I felt this green work very well with the architecture of the house and I designed the kitchen and had custom made. I like to use open shelves to break the cabinets and I always design units that go all the way to the ceiling. I do not like this gap summit just gathering dust, she said.
I like to introduce reason, too, which is why I went for encaustic tiles here. Grierson has designed these ceramics, influenced Moroccan tiles and had custom made.

paintings on the wall by the dining table are family heirlooms and they helped inspire the color scheme throughout the room.

the same brick wallpaper behind the glass used as a backsplash in the kitchen hangs in the living area to help connect the two areas. The shelves are made from funds that Grierson picked up in an antique shop, and it has a packing patterned paper.

terrazzo floor in the hallway - made from marble chips embedded in concrete - is particularly special. Although it is heavily patterned, it works with bold wallpaper Squiggles, completing forms and warm colors.
Space is subtly linked to the living room through the front screen, here in a red color rather than the blue of the living room.
