Houzz Tour: A Victorian house with a modern twist - When interior designer Bunny Turner and her husband decided to renovate their family home, they wanted to create a series of separate spaces easily flowed from one to another. They obtained using subtle color changes that both links and separate bedrooms, and highlighted divisions with bold pattern.
The biggest challenge was to open their kitchen ceiling down, but with the help of architects Carmody Groarke, they found a solution. By lowering the floor of the kitchen by a whole meter, they could build a room of the gallery as modern that packs a punch and is distinguished from the rest of the period comfortable interior of the house.

Turner found vintage truck Kempton Antiques Market and painted white, so it would stand out against the dark blue walls. "It has now become a very useful drinks trolley, she said. the shade of the lamp adds to the yellow tones of the room, while the base was deliberately chosen for its texture and color.

As the living room is small, Turner did not fill it with floor to ceiling, built-in shelving, she opted for freestanding cabinets instead. They give an airy feeling and meaning it can display interesting pieces on top.
The two rectangular armchairs sit comfortably between the cabinets; each has its own wall light for easy reading. The animal skull and white ceramics offer a crisp, texture contrast on the walls.

the chair is a family heirloom that Turner had reupholstered in a fun yellow pattern. In order not to distract from it and let it speak for itself, she chose a sisal rug in a neutral model, it adds texture to the room without overshadowing the chair.
Behind the chair, you can just do the TV screen. "Dark Walls are very useful to hide the screens, said Turner.

the couple wanted the feeling of flow open house offers, but with the possibility of dividing the rooms for privacy. The Crittall screen was the perfect solution practical. The bonus here is that it allows a bounce light to shine in the living room to the kitchen facing south down the stairs.

corridors and landings may feel transient, then Turner chose the bold patterned wallpaper to give this more of a feeling reflected space.
Next to the reception is a beautiful, multi-ever exhibition of a mountainscape by Richard Friend. Those who work in the office can choose to use as a canvas background quiet, or contemplative piece in which to get lost.

the antique mirror behind the desk increases the feeling of space and reflect the color scheme of the adjoining room. Its marbled finish gives the surface a softer light, so it will not distract.
The desktop is a combination of two units and a white table from Ikea you can mix and match to fit your space.

the couple designed the staircase leading to the kitchen with sharp edges to reflect the modern look of the cabinets. They tied it with the rest of the house using the same pin that works throughout.
Photographs line the stairs and are a mixture of very old family photos and other newer. Turner said she could not bear the thought of picking up dust in boxes and wanted his children to be surrounded by family memories.

The original kitchen had a low ceiling, which gave him a dull sensation. The proposal of the architect to lower the floor of a meter presented the couple with a dilemma because he has not added square foot home. However, Turner think it was the best decision they made because it completely changed the feel of the room.
Extension in return side will add to the space, however, and the result is a bright and friendly room overlooking the garden. The p olished concrete floor inside leads to concrete troweled onto the patio, adding to the feeling of flow Turner wanted for the house.

"We really splashed on the lights, said Turner sculptural pendants and above practices of the island. The ceiling can be seen from the study area at the top of the stairs, so that the couple wanted to keep it clean and avoid downlights. These pendants strikers work as work lights very bright, and can also be dimmed to create mood lighting to eat.

Above the table was a large empty wall that must be filled. The couple has a beloved whippet, so this map of greyhound racing, they ordered a photographer friend to take, paid tribute to him.

the back side was equipped with a roof and right-angle windows that run along the tops of cupboards.
The units are minimal design given a glamorous touch with Carrara marble countertops and lining the back of the island.

the couple decided to be bold with the evidence room of their daughter and chose a bright red wallpaper patterns. Turner from a calico fabric for Roman blind that was exactly the gray paneling. She took the piece of color palette by adding a single line of red and white braiding.

the guest bedroom has blue walls and inky soft shades of green in the tissues. It is a sunny and incredibly comfortable room. The table bedside barrel adds an eclectic look to the room and felt less formal.

Turner chose wool curtains, which, with red wool fabric on the bed, add warmth to the master bedroom. A flatweave carpet areas of the bed area and is soft underfoot. A cloakroom is next door so no need for large storage, the couple could afford the luxury of a sofa bed in the foot

the fireplace is not in use to prevent cold and empty search, Turner filled with logs. The opaque frame around the large mirror above gives it a discreet quality and makes it look more like a painting.
