Houzz Tour: A Victorian Mill Cloth turns into a modern home - This beautiful loft apartment in a Victorian linen factory in Manchester was a pioneer in his time, the building was one of first of its kind to be converted for residential use, with many others following suit shortly after. After moving into the property 15 years ago, the owners decided it was time to give their home an update. They contacted Donald Scott Donald aid architecture. "When they approached me, the place was tired," says Donald. "They wanted a look that was contemporary, with clean lines and light, like a complete change from dark, heavy space they had before.

Donald was limited by the existing configuration. "The provision has not been fantastic, he said. "I am limited by the position of the two bathrooms and the kitchen, which were determined by service." So rather than reconfigure the apartment, Donald pared back, raised ceiling heights and walls removed to allow the light to circulate. A mixture of rich texture of wood, brick and frosted glass to the apartment to date and is now a streamlined contemporary house where the artworks and books owners are beautifully displayed.
