Houzz Tour: An elegant courtyard apartment in East London warehouse - 'We love the industrial area: it is so clean and BIG, says Harvey B Brown-east London flat Victorian warehouse her and her husband, Steven, moved in all their former respective homes - a chic townhouse Hampstead '(Harvey) and (Steven) an apartment above the gastropub he opened.

nosing around inside, you could be forgiven for thinking the mix of decor styles - from pieces of metal with a factory feel curly, rock garden finishes - increased by a collection of things from two households, or architecture as urban pad. But, says Harvey, "we treated this place as a new beginning, and almost everything here is new to us." Surprising Less, given his career in the design and direction of the film, Harvey took a creative approach to within this sharp RAW-, open space. "It's almost like a movie studio, he says, and we have created small sets in open spaces.

The apartment is on the ground floor of a three story building sensitively converted by Gideon Purser Chris Dyson Architects. "When we started working, said Gideon," the building was used as offices, but it was originally a warehouse, beginning in mid-Victorian, although we have never been able to discover that it was stored there. It was quite intact inside, so there was a lot of character.

This industrial interior in great shape the direction of the design. Gideon and his team worked almost entirely with oak, concrete and brick. "Just three materials in the palette, he said. "We kept our work to a light touch and let them sing old original materials rather than compete.
