Houzz Tour: Towering over London in a 7 storey Home - As formerly industrial portions of cities turn into neighborhoods to live and work, the future of the buildings that served as factories, warehouses and came into question. Should they be demolished? Or renovated for uses consistent with the evolution of a region? This is what happened with a water tower Victorian listed in Kennington, which couple Leigh Osborne and Graham Voce turned into a seven-story residence.

the project was documented on the 100th episode of the television show great design s. The show focuses on Osborne, a property developer, as he tries to raise nearly £ 2 million to complete the project in eight short months. Documentation to keep such a large building is fascinating both. The completed project which cost an additional £ 380,000 for the purchase of the tower is quite faithful to the original view of this observation, although we can see the modern apartment buildings nearby.

But the project is not only convert the nine-story tower in a residential seven story. A gym, five bedrooms and a living room occupying the water tank above the building are piled up in the tower, but the bathrooms are housed in a new vertical appendix include lift. The garage, kitchen, another lounge and terrace occupy four floors of cube in front of the tower. Here we see the cube and 20 feet tall sliding glass walls opening onto the kitchen below and above living room.

cooking in the cube is very modern and indicates the level of detail of the couple put into the project. Osborne would have spared the burden on the finishes and accessories, but not surprisingly (given the developer in mind and know what sells), he opted for high-end and modern choice in addition and old tower.

on top of the cube is a four-storey terrace, the only bit of outdoor space for home, but nice nonetheless.

The lifting tower also acts as a tour of duty, where the bathrooms and plumbing are stacked. The master bath includes a custom bath that was too big to snake up the stairs of the tower. As shown in the episode Grand Designs , the bath was raised the elevator shaft before the elevator was installed.

only stairs in the entire project are the original stone stairs in the tower. Therefore, moving from the kitchen to the living room in the cube means using the stairs in the tower, a circuitous route, but leaves on each floor of the open cube.
To give an idea of the scale of the tower stairs occupy about a third of the footprint of each floor. This means that each of the seven floors is relatively low.

Unsurprisingly, purpose of the project is the rooftop lounge and the view through the openings in the melt water tank. The 360 degree views are what kept Osborne and Voce through financial and other problems during construction.
