Houzz Tour: A West Sussex House Gets a Makeover architect - New England Simon Randell worked with interior designer Lizzie Stueck on a glorious renovation of this house West Sussex near the reserve Pagham Harbour Nature, a project that has not been without challenges. The architect and designer started the project for the previous owners, but more or less after the demolition of the original three-bedroom house on the site, the ground work dramatically stopped when the owners have hit a snag. "Unfortunately, they ran out of money," recalls Simon. "They were renovating their main home in London at the same time and unforeseen costs meant that something had to give, so the project was abandoned.

Incredibly, Simon was aware of a former client who was also looking for a weekend retreat in the region. "I called them immediately and they came to look at the site the next day. A few weeks later, they bought it!

The new owners Simon reset to work on the project, with a short revised to transform the site into a robust family home, with a casual nod to New England style. "I was working in America for 10 years and renovated a number of properties New England, so it was a wonderful opportunity to apply my firsthand knowledge," he explains.

The renovation and extension of large-scale project, which took 18 months in total, delivered a relaxed, comfortable home with generous living spaces for families and detail. "The owners wanted a place where they could turn on a Friday night and the ease seamlessly into a relaxing weekend," says Simon. "The devil is in the detail in this house, but nothing screams for attention."

"we still had offices in here when we started," recalls Thomas. "But the case was simple: the client wanted a comfortable, New York loft-style space with a charming British touch. He also had to work as a studio for his work

During the renovation process of six months, Thomas completely empty inside -. Which is set over three floors - and reconfigured to make way for a glorious opening -plan living space, as well as the extension of a number of windows to the ground to allow natural light to pour and create the loft feel desired customer.

To reach the open space, Thomas has successfully navigate regulatory requirements and difficult fire using the latest misting technology. "Fortunately, this technology is now approved by building regulations, which meant that we should not have a cumbersome fire escape doors or fire," he says. "There are very few doors in the apartment at all, which really enhances the sense of openness."

For the interior, a rear sober palette colors of cream and taupe has was chosen to complement the brick, while the buttons bright colors have been introduced to add interest and depth of the plan.
