Houzz Tour: A dramatic Mountainside retreat with Contemporay sensation is - Several years, the couple bought a piece of 20 acres of land deep in the remote part of the Cascade about two hours north of Seattle their home. The idea was to build a simple, small retreat where the two of them - is a director of health, he is a musician and furniture manufacturer - could take off from city life for long periods of time and enjoy the spectacular landscape
They asked Seattle architect David Coleman to design a modern house that would be tied to the land still stand out in relief against the sky, the mountains and the forest. Location of the construction site on a gentle slope in a clearing, Coleman mapped a rectangular perimeter and placed two buildings - the main cabin and studio, connected by an external staircase - yin-yang style in the rectangle. The cabin includes a loft bedroom and a large bedroom, while the home studio guest quarters, a workshop and a music room.
The design? At once simple and dramatic for promoting a lifestyle interior and exterior if it's raining or shining.
