Houzz Tour: A colorful Victorian house and flooded with light in Sussex - When asked the architect to Anna Standish inside to redraw this Victorian property, a mile from the dramatic coastline East Sussex and surrounded by fields and sky, she was struck by the natural light that spilled in. 'My first visit in February, recalls Anna. "It was raining and there was a sea of fog blowing, but you can tell how, on a clear day, the rooms are flooded with light.
In addition to a great location, the house had beautiful features including the high sash windows, high ceilings and smart square rooms. Anna, who worked for a large number of celebrity clients including Madonna and Claudia Schiffer, now lives and works in Lewes increasingly in Sussex, so she was very happy to have the chance to rethink this typical country house . She began by redesigning the layout. "How the flow of rooms is more important than the way the house is decorated, she said. A wall separating the kitchen and dining room was taken down so that all the ground floor rooms are now in a U shape, which flows into the other, with the stairs in the center. Anna then chose a white backdrop and added bright colors accent, including turquoise and yellow, to bring a lot of personality to this beautiful home.

"It is important to be able to isolate the rooms to meet all the needs of the family at a time. Now a person can watch TV in the lounge, while another is to listen to the radio in the kitchen and the children are nestled in the TV room, but you can open it all when you want to be together .
Anna believes in the power of strong color to raise us, she chose a bright yellow for the corridor. "I had already used yellow accents around the house in other places," she said, and that lead me to her. "
