Houzz Tour: A London Mews House Brimming With Clever Storage - Often with houses in the cities of the UK, not enough thought is put into the owners' storage needs. And that's exactly what designer Margot Yuschenko found with his own property in North London. She bought the house of falconry with her husband a few years ago and found that, although adequate, it was not friendly or their taste.

After a few transformations, she decided it was time to do it properly and renovate the entire property. Now she has a split of contemporary house on two levels, with rooms on the ground floor and an open living area floor - and plenty of storage throughout.

The mews house had been decorated more than an English country style, with floors french oak and a rustic touch. "We wanted it to be more contemporary and bring a Scandinavian touch, said Yuschenko . She decided to go for a more minimalist palette French gray, bleached wood and dusty pink.

The living space is very open to the floor, so Yuschenko took care to define each zone with some parts of 'instruction. In the lounge, a custom shelving system defines space. It was designed by Yuschenko with computer-aided design (CAD), and consists of a lacquered spray finish. The back shelves are painted in the same French Little Greene Grey as the walls.

The look is sleek back with some interesting touches, such as wall IC C / W Flos lights by Michael Anastassiades, which will give the room flair. "They look a little retro, but very elegant and clean, 'said Yuschenko . It has also installed sailing roller blinds throughout to ensure confidentiality .

Another element Yuschenko introduced was the fireplace. "I wanted to separate the spaces in different areas, she said. "The whole building is new, and I added a window to act as a contemporary fireplace. This is the central wall you just climb the stairs, so I wanted to draw eyes to the function immediately. There is a fireplace with ethanol, it does not emit smoke.

A ladder leads to a small ledge with LED running lights strip through it for an alternative lighting system. There are also two large skylights in the sloping roof that provide lots of natural light into the room.

When Yuschenko and her first husband moved into the house a few years ago, they had no furniture; everything was purchased sometime between the time they moved in first and metamorphosis.

In the kitchen Yuschenko wanted to keep the contemporary look, so I went for units without modern handles in a very old rose color subtle, with quartz worktops.

She designed everything herself, from the layout for the materials and colors. "It's basically a kitchen, she said, but it has everything. The space is used very efficiently.

The master bedroom is pretty quiet and minimum to tie with the living area upstairs. "I went to the gray walls again and installed new radiators, but there is not too much to architecture," says Yuschenko .

The suite to the second bedroom is actually the larger of the two bathrooms. Yuschenko chose a bath when she would be able to bathe her child easily, and everything here is very carefully thought out. "I put the taps on the other side of the shower so as not all wet when you test the water," said Yuschenko .

There is also a small niche for shampoo storage and a separate shower head sticking out if you rinse your hair after a bath.
